ACURA SLX Recalls

The Acura SLX has 4 recalls covering the 1996-1998 model years, with the most serious issues spread evenly across each year, including a 1998 transfer case defect where loose propeller shaft flange nuts can allow the shaft to separate and leave the vehicle unable to move. On the suspension side, 1997 models were built without a lock washer or screws in the front hub, which allows the bearing adjustment nut to work loose and create excessive play between the wheel and axle. The 1996 model year has two separate issues: a left front brake line routed too close to the upper control arm, where it can wear against the arm during normal operation, leak fluid, and increase stopping distances; and a rear center seat belt buckle sourced from a different market that is physically incompatible with the U.S.-spec belt tongue, meaning the belt cannot latch and provides no restraint in a crash.
