12 recalls across 11 model years
The Acura TSX has 12 recalls spanning the 2004–2014 production run, with the most serious being a passenger-side airbag inflator defect on 2009–2014 models where the inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
The airbag issue accounts for the majority of recalls across the TSX's later production years. On 2009–2014 models, the passenger frontal airbag inflator can explode rather than deploy normally, scattering sharp metal fragments toward occupants. This defect was addressed through multiple repair campaigns, and a separate recall covers 2009–2014 vehicles where a replacement inflator may have been installed incorrectly at a dealership, which can cause the airbag to deploy improperly in a crash rather than protecting the occupant.
On 2004–2008 models, the power steering hose can deteriorate from prolonged heat exposure, crack, and leak fluid onto hot exhaust components, generating smoke and creating a fire risk under the hood. There is also an electrical issue on 2004–2008 vehicles registered or originally sold in salt-belt states, where a salt-water mixture tracked in on a driver's shoes can soak the carpet and corrode the engine control unit, causing the engine to stall while driving. A narrower version of this corrosion concern applies specifically to the 2004 model year across any region where road salt is used.
The 2004 model year has two additional lower-severity recalls involving the trunk lid wiring harness. The harness runs through the trunk hinge area and can wear through repeated opening and closing, causing a blown fuse or short circuit that knocks out the tail lights, backup lights, and license plate lights simultaneously.
