AMC HORNET Recalls

The AMC Hornet has 2 recalls covering the 1975-1976 model years, the most serious being a power steering hose on 1975 six-cylinder models routed too close to the exhaust manifold, where heat can damage the hose and spray power steering fluid onto hot exhaust components, potentially starting an engine compartment fire. On 1976 models equipped with the 258, 304, or 360 cubic inch engines, a brazed joint connecting the exhaust sensing tube to the back pressure sensor can crack, causing the exhaust gas recirculation valve to malfunction and allowing the vehicle to emit exhaust gases beyond federally permitted levels.
