The Aston Martin Vantage V8 has 4 recalls spanning 2007 to 2012, with the most serious affecting 2011 models where a transmission software update applied incorrectly can cause the gearbox to drop into neutral without warning, cutting drive power unexpectedly and raising the risk of a crash. The 2007 model year has a separate powertrain concern: the accelerator pedal arm can fail and cause the throttle to snap back to idle, leaving the driver with no engine response when trying to accelerate. On 2012 models equipped with the 7-speed Auto-Shift Manual transmission, a hydraulic system connector can lose support, work loose, and leak transmission fluid to the point where gear changes become impossible. The 2009 model year has a compliance issue with its double-locking door system, which prevents occupants from opening the doors from inside the cabin without using the key's unlock button, potentially trapping someone in an emergency.
