4 recalls across 4 model years
The Audi A4 Cabriolet has 4 recalls, all affecting the airbag inflators, where the driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators can rupture or explode during deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin and causing serious injury or death to occupants across 2006-2009 model years.
All four recalls share the same core defect: excessive internal pressure building inside the frontal airbag inflators during a crash deployment. On 2006-2009 models, the driver-side inflator can rupture and scatter metal fragments through the cabin. The passenger-side inflator carries the same risk on 2007-2009 models, with the 2009 model year covered by a separate filing that extends that passenger-side concern. These are Takata-type inflator issues that affect both seating positions across nearly the entire production run of this model.
