4 recalls across 4 model years
The Audi A4 Cabriolet has 4 recalls for the 2006–2009 model years, all involving frontal airbag inflators that can explode or rupture during deployment, sending sharp metal fragments into the cabin and causing serious injury or death.
All four recalls center on the same hazard: Takata-type frontal airbag inflators that build excessive internal pressure and can burst violently when the airbag fires in a crash. Both the driver-side and passenger-side inflators are affected. The driver-side inflator recalls cover 2006–2009 models, while the passenger-side recalls cover 2007–2009, with an additional passenger-side filing specific to 2009. Because all four recalls share the same underlying risk and the same severity rating, there is no meaningful hierarchy among them — every model year in the 2006–2009 production run is affected by at least one of these inflator concerns, and most years are covered by more than one.
