6 recalls across 5 model years
The Audi Q5 Sportback has 6 recalls covering 2022 through 2025 model years, with the most serious being a connecting rod bearing defect on 2022-2023 models that can cause engine failure, stalling, and in some cases an oil leak that raises the risk of an engine fire.
The 2025 model year has a seatbelt recall where the driver and front passenger belts may have been manufactured incorrectly and fail to hold occupants in a crash. On 2022-2024 models, cylinder head cover screws can work loose and allow oil to leak from the engine, also raising the risk of fire. On 2022 models, liquid reaching the gateway control module, whether from a spill in the rear seat or water entering through a body seam underneath, can shut the module down and cause a sudden loss of engine power. A separate 2022 issue involves a semiconductor inside the engine control unit that can short-circuit and stall the engine without warning. The 2022 model year also has a software error that can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing when the driver first shifts into reverse.
