3 recalls across 4 model years
The Audi R8 Spyder has 3 recalls spanning 2011 through 2018, the most serious affecting 2017 models where the driver's frontal airbag inflator can rupture on deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, raising the risk of serious injury.
The 2017-2018 model years also have a transmission fluid leak risk: under high-speed or hard-maneuvering conditions, fluid can escape from the gearbox ventilation hose and contact hot engine components, which can start a fire. On 2011-2012 models, the fuel supply line can rub against a heat shield in the engine compartment, wear through, and allow fuel to leak near potential ignition sources, also creating a fire risk.
