3 recalls across 2 model years
The Audi RS 4 has 3 recalls covering the 2007–2008 model years, all involving frontal airbag inflators that can explode during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, risking serious injury or death to occupants.
Both the driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators on 2007–2008 models are subject to this concern. On 2007–2008 vehicles, the passenger-side inflator can rupture under excessive internal pressure when the airbag fires. The driver-side inflator carries the same risk on 2008 models. In each case, the failure mode is the same: the inflator casing breaks apart rather than directing gas into the airbag, and the resulting fragments can strike anyone in the front of the vehicle.
