AUDI SQ8 Recalls

The Audi SQ8 has 10 recalls spanning the 2020 through 2026 model years, with the most serious affecting 2021 vehicles where cracks can develop in the engine cylinder bore, potentially causing the engine to stall or leak oil and raising the risk of a crash or fire.

The 2025 model year has a front seat belt concern where the driver and front passenger buckles may be missing a rivet that secures the buckle to its stalk, meaning the belt may not hold an occupant in a crash. On 2023-2024 models, the driver's seat side airbag may have been improperly mounted to the seatback frame, which can prevent it from protecting the occupant in a side impact.

Rearview camera issues appear across several model years. A software error on 2020-2026 vehicles can prevent the camera image from displaying at all. On 2022 models, a separate software fault can cause the camera to show no image when the vehicle first begins reversing, and an infotainment system fault on 2022 models can also render the camera display inoperative. These three issues share the same practical consequence: reduced rear visibility while backing up.

The 2021 model year carries several additional concerns. A rear seat belt retractor fault can prevent a child restraint from being properly secured. A software error can cause the instrument panel to go blank, taking the speedometer and warning lights with it. A separate software issue can cause the rearview camera display to show nothing. Rear axle misalignment on 2021 vehicles can cause uneven or accelerated tire wear over time.
