4 recalls across 2 model years
The Audi V8 has 4 recalls covering the 1990 and 1991 model years, with the most serious being an airbag sensor on 1990 models that can deploy the airbag without any collision, potentially startling the driver into losing control.
The 1990 and 1991 model years both have a cruise control rod bushing that deteriorates over time, causing the rod to bind and preventing the throttle from fully returning to idle when the driver releases the accelerator. The 1991 model year also has a fire risk: a capacitor in each rear speaker amplifier can leak electrolytic fluid, and in humid conditions that fluid can create an unintended electrical path that causes the amplifier to overheat and potentially ignite.
