On 2005 models, a front lower ball joint can disconnect because a retaining nut lacks the required self-locking feature, removing steering control and causing the vehicle to go where the driver does not intend. On 2002 models, a fuel system quick connector used during certain service operations can fail to fully re-engage after being disconnected, leading to a fuel leak that can ignite if it reaches a heat or spark source.
