3 recalls across 6 model years
The BMW 745i has 3 recalls covering 2002–2008 model years, the most serious being a door latch defect on 2005–2008 vehicles equipped with both the Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options, where doors can appear fully closed but open unexpectedly while driving.
The 2005–2008 door latch issue affects vehicles with that specific option combination, where the door gives the appearance of being latched but can swing open due to road vibration or contact from an occupant. Going back to the 2003 model year, a software error can cause the two banks of the variable valve system to fall out of sync, stalling the engine and potentially leaving the driver unable to restart it. On 2002 models, the electric fuel pump can wear internally over time and fail to deliver adequate fuel when the tank is at one-third capacity or below, causing the engine to stall and refuse to start until fuel is added.
