5 recalls across 12 model years
The BMW 760Li has 5 recalls spanning the 2003–2015 production run, with the most serious being a fire risk on 2009–2012 models where a turbocharger circuit board can overheat and ignite. On 2013–2015 vehicles, the engine control unit can receive incompatible software during a service visit, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly while driving.
The 2005–2008 model years carry two separate concerns. On vehicles equipped with both the Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic options, a door can appear fully latched but remain unsecured, opening unexpectedly from road vibration or contact with an occupant. There is also an ignition-related issue on 2005–2008 Comfort Access-equipped vehicles where the system can allow a driver to exit without the transmission in Park, leaving the car free to roll away unattended.
Going back to the earliest production year, 2003 models have an engine oil filter drain plug that can work loose, spraying oil and then leaking steadily. Significant oil loss can damage the engine and, if control is affected, raise the risk of a crash.
