6 recalls across 10 model years
The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure has 6 recalls covering 2005 through 2014 model years, with two equally serious issues standing out: a 2014 front fork tube that can pull free from its upper clamp and destabilize the motorcycle, and a fuel pump on 2011-2014 models that can crack and leak fuel, creating a fire risk while riding.
The 2014 model year also has a minor equipment recall: when fitted with optional aluminum luggage cases, the rear reflectors can be partially blocked, reducing visibility to other drivers at night.
Going back to the 2011-2014 range, the fuel pump issue is compounded by a separate concern for 2005 models that were previously repaired under an earlier recall using a support ring fix but never had the fuel pump itself replaced. On those bikes, the original pump can still leak fuel and pose the same fire risk.
The 2006-2010 model years carry a rear wheel mounting flange recall. If the flange cracks, the wheel mounting bolts can work loose and the rear wheel can lose its attachment to the motorcycle, with obvious consequences for stability and control.
On 2005-2007 models, the fuel tank front attachment bolts can back out over time and contact the fork leg when the handlebars are turned sharply, restricting steering travel and reducing the rider's ability to maneuver.
