3 recalls across 8 model years
The BMW R 1200 R has 3 recalls covering 2007–2014 model years, with the most serious being a fuel pump that can crack and leak fuel while the motorcycle is running on 2011–2014 models, creating a fire risk in the presence of any ignition source.
A separate fuel system recall affects 2009–2010 models that were previously repaired under an earlier campaign using a support ring fix but never received a fuel pump replacement. On those bikes, the original underlying leak risk remains, again with the potential for fire if fuel contacts an ignition source. On the mechanical side, 2007–2010 models have a rear wheel mounting flange that can crack, allowing the mounting bolts to loosen and the rear wheel to lose its secure attachment to the motorcycle, which can cause sudden instability and a crash.
