3 recalls across 2 model years
The BMW S1000RR has 3 recalls covering the 2012 and 2020 model years, with the most serious being a 2020 oil cooler hose that can detach from the oil pipe, spilling oil onto the rear tire or exhaust system and raising the risk of loss of control or an engine compartment fire.
The 2012 model year has two separate recalls. Connecting rod bolts can loosen and separate inside the engine, causing it to seize and lock the rear wheel without warning, or leak oil onto the rear tire and destabilize the motorcycle. There is also a side stand installation issue on 2012 models where the attachment bolts can work loose and allow the motorcycle to fall over while parked on the stand.
