The BMW X6 SAC has 1 recall affecting 2008-2014 model years, where the driver's frontal airbag inflator can rupture during a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a serious injury risk to the driver and passengers.
This is a Takata airbag inflator issue. The inflator uses a propellant that can degrade over time, and when the airbag deploys in a crash, the inflator casing can burst rather than directing gas cleanly into the bag. The metal fragments produced can travel at high speed toward the driver and anyone else in the vehicle. All 2008-2014 model years are covered by this recall.
