The Buell S2T Thunderbolt has 1 recall affecting the 1996 model year, where the tall handlebars can crack at the cuff that connects them to the front fork tubes, eventually detaching entirely and leaving the rider with no steering control and no warning before a crash. When the handlebar separates from the cuff, steering input no longer reaches the front wheel, making the motorcycle impossible to control. Because the cracking can progress internally before any visible sign appears, the failure can occur without the rider anticipating it.
