The Buick Estate Wagon has 3 recalls spanning the 1977-1990 production run, the most serious affecting 1977 models where a child can enter the rear storage compartment and become trapped inside, unable to open the door from within, with a risk of suffocation if help is not reached in time. The 1990 model year has a wiring error that disables the daytime running lights, leaving the vehicle without that visibility aid during daytime driving. On 1986 models, the headlight switch can have faulty electrical contacts that cause the headlights to cut out intermittently, reducing driver visibility at night or in poor weather conditions.
