2 recalls across 2 model years
The Buick Lucerne has 2 recalls, both affecting 2010-2011 models equipped with V8 engines, where an electrical cable rubs against the power steering return line, wears through it, and leaks fluid that can either cause loss of power steering or ignite on hot engine components and start an engine compartment fire.
On affected V8-equipped models, the starter or alternator cable sits close enough to the power steering return line that repeated contact gradually erodes the line wall. Once fluid escapes, the driver may notice the steering wheel becoming heavy and difficult to turn, raising crash risk. Any fluid that contacts hot engine parts can catch fire, including when the vehicle is running but stationary.
