6 recalls across 3 model years
The Buick Rendezvous has 6 recalls covering 2002-2004 model years, with the most serious being a steering column intermediate shaft defect on 2003 models where the shaft can spin freely inside its coupling and cause complete loss of steering without warning.
The 2004 model year has two additional recalls. Contamination on the ignition relay contacts can create high electrical resistance that interferes with the powertrain control module, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly and leaving the vehicle unable to restart right away. There is also a fuel tank inlet check valve weld that can fail on 2004 models, separating the valve from the tank and allowing fuel to leak onto the ground, typically signaled by a fuel odor or a check engine light. On 2003 and 2002 models, the rear liftgate latch has insufficient structural support at its attachment point, meaning the liftgate can fly open in a crash and allow an occupant to be ejected from the vehicle.
