BUICK SOMERSET Recalls

The Buick Somerset has 3 recalls, all affecting the 1985 model year, with the most serious being a carburetor throttle return spring that can fail and leave the engine at full throttle even after the driver lifts off the accelerator, with no warning before a potential crash. The headlamp switch on these vehicles can build up excessive heat in its circuitry, causing the headlights to flicker on and off unexpectedly at night or in poor conditions and reducing visibility when it matters most. On two-door models, cracks can develop in the body pillar around the door striker bolt hole and, if left unaddressed, spread to the point where a door can swing open in a crash.
