The Buick Toronado has 1 recall affecting the 1983 model year, where a noise suppression capacitor in the windshield wiper delay relay can overheat when the intermittent wipe feature is in use, potentially starting a fire under the hood that can spread into the passenger compartment. The overheating can also disable the wipers entirely, leaving the driver without forward visibility in rain. The issue is limited to 1983 models equipped with both the Delco-Bose sound system and the low-speed delay wiper feature.
