10 recalls across 5 model years
The Cadillac CT6 has 10 recalls across its 2016-2020 production run, with the most serious affecting 2019-2020 models equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission, where internal damage or a worn transmission control valve can cause the wheels to lock up suddenly while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2019 model year also has two additional safety-related issues. A software error in the brake control module can disable both the electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes without warning, leaving the driver without those systems in a skid or emergency stop. Turn signals on some 2019 vehicles do not automatically cancel when the steering wheel returns to center, which can leave a signal flashing indefinitely and mislead other drivers.
On child seat safety, 2018-2019 models have rear seatbelt retractors that may not lock when the belt is fully extended, which can prevent a child safety seat from being properly anchored. The 2016-2018 model years have a related issue where excess adhesive on the inboard child seat anchorage bars can block a child seat from attaching correctly to the anchor point.
The 2016 model year has two occupant restraint concerns: a small production window in late July 2016 produced vehicles where the front passenger seatbelt anchor bolt may be missing, allowing the belt to pull free in a crash. Separately, the 2016-2017 model years have park and position lights that can be excessively bright and impair the vision of oncoming drivers. The 2020 model year, on vehicles fitted with dealer-installed 20-inch accessory wheels, has tire pressure monitoring sensors that use the wrong radio frequency and cannot trigger the low-pressure warning light, leaving the driver unaware of underinflated tires.
