4 recalls across 1 model year
The Cadillac Escalade has 4 recalls, all affecting the 2021 model year, with the most serious being incorrectly installed seat belt fasteners that can allow the belt assembly to pull free in a crash and fail to restrain an occupant.
The 2021 model year also has a fuel pump control module that can cause the pump to fail or run intermittently, cutting fuel flow to the engine and stalling the vehicle without warning. Separately on the 2021 model, a software fault in the electric power steering system can drop steering assist at startup or while driving, making the wheel significantly harder to turn, especially at low speeds.
The fourth recall, specific to the 2021 Escalade and Escalade ESV, involves the overhead console warning lights for the front passenger seat belt and airbag status. When the vehicle is started via remote start, or restarted within about ten minutes without opening a door, those indicator lights can default to a dim night mode and become difficult to see, leaving the driver unaware that the passenger is unbuckled or has a deactivated airbag.
