CADILLAC STS Recalls

The Cadillac STS has 5 recalls covering the 2005-2008 model years, with the most serious being a defect on 2006 all-wheel-drive models with the 3.6L V6 engine where the electronic throttle control lacks an important safeguard, allowing the engine computer to open the throttle further than the driver commands and potentially causing a crash. The 2008 STS and STS-V have a tire pressure monitoring system that fails to warn the driver when the system itself malfunctions, meaning a slow leak or sensor failure can go unnoticed until a tire fails at speed. On 2005 models, a rear suspension toe link can separate from the body due to a weak weld, letting the affected rear wheel pivot inward or outward on its own and destabilizing the vehicle without warning. There is also a sunroof compliance issue on 2005 vehicles where the sunroof can close under power after the ignition is off and a front door has been opened, which poses an entrapment risk in certain circumstances.
