CHEVROLET CAPRICE Recalls

The Chevrolet Caprice has 4 recalls covering 2008 through 2014 model years, with the most serious being a 2014 model year airbag that can deploy with more force than intended, raising the risk of injury to occupants in a crash. The 2013-2014 model years also have a wiper motor where the gear teeth can strip, leaving the wipers unable to clear rain or snow and significantly reducing the driver's forward visibility in poor weather. Going back to 2011-2013 production, Police Patrol Vehicle trim models have a transmission selector lever with two internal pins that can shift out of position, allowing the gear selector to move out of Park without the driver pressing the brake pedal, which can cause the vehicle to roll unexpectedly. Across the broader 2011-2013 range, a seatbelt cable can break inside the retractor mechanism, preventing the belt from properly restraining an occupant in a crash. That same seatbelt issue extends back to 2008-2009 on the related Pontiac G8 platform that underpins this model.
