6 recalls across 7 model years
The Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 4500 has 6 recalls covering 2016 through 2020 model years, with the most serious being a fire risk on 2020 Crew Cab models with 6.6L gasoline engines where the positive battery cable runs too close to the exhaust pipe, causing the insulation to deteriorate and potentially igniting a fire.
Two other recalls also affect 2020 Crew Cab 6.6L gasoline models. The chassis wiring harness can chafe against the coolant return hose from the radiator, leading to coolant leaks or damaged wiring that can stall the engine or cause an electrical fire. Also on 2016 models, the accelerator pedal can stick open, making the vehicle difficult to slow or stop.
The 2017-2019 model years have a relay box power supply bolt that may not have been fully tightened, which can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly. The 2016-2018 model years have a fire extinguisher that may not function properly in an emergency. On 2019 models, the odometer display incorrectly labels miles as kilometers, which can cause owners to misjudge service intervals and delay maintenance tied to mileage.
