The Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 5500 has 1 recall affecting 2022-2023 models where vehicles modified to a 200-inch or 212-inch wheelbase had their ABS module and optional forward camera left uncalibrated, which can cause the automatic emergency braking and electronic stability control systems to operate incorrectly, raising the risk of a crash. On affected vehicles, the stretch of the frame changes the geometry that both systems rely on, but the calibration was not updated to match. Without a corrected ABS module, stability control may not intervene as intended during a skid or evasive maneuver. On vehicles equipped with the optional forward camera, automatic emergency braking may fail to detect a hazard or may activate at the wrong moment. The recall covers only vehicles that were frame-stretched to those specific wheelbases during upfitting, not the full production run.
