4 recalls across 1 model year
The Chrysler Neon has 4 recalls, all affecting the 2000 model year, with the most serious being a front suspension lower control arm where the pivot tube can separate from the arm, causing sudden loss of vehicle control.
The 2000 model year also has an engine throttle issue where extremely cold temperatures (around -30°C) combined with steady highway driving can cause ice to build up on the throttle blade, preventing it from returning to idle and leaving the engine stuck at elevated speed. On the brake side, the vacuum hose connecting the brake booster to the intake manifold can swell and pull loose, stripping away the power assist and requiring noticeably more pedal force to stop the vehicle. The passenger-side airbag inflator can also develop a crack along an internal weld seam, allowing stored gas to leak out so the airbag fails to deploy in a crash.
