4 recalls across 1 model year
The Chrysler Neon has 4 recalls, all affecting the 2000 model year, with the most serious being a front suspension lower control arm weld that can fail and cause the pivot tube to separate, resulting in sudden loss of vehicle control. Sharing that top severity rating, the 2000 model also has a throttle that can stick open in extremely cold temperatures (around -30°C) when ice builds up on the throttle blade, preventing the engine from returning to idle. On the braking side, the brake booster vacuum hose can swell and pull away from the intake manifold, stripping out the power assist and making the brake pedal significantly harder to press. The passenger-side airbag inflator can also develop a crack at a weld seam, allowing stored gas to leak out so the airbag fails to deploy in a crash.
