The Dodge LT1000 has 1 recall affecting the 1973 model year, where the axle housing wall can be too thin near the spindle weld joint, fatigue over time, and fracture, allowing the entire dual wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle while driving. A separated wheel assembly poses a serious hazard to other vehicles on the road and leaves the affected vehicle without control on that corner. The fracture occurs at the axle housing rather than a fastener, so there may be little warning before the wheels detach.
