3 recalls across 1 model year
The Dodge Ram 3500 has 3 recalls, all affecting the 2010 model year, and all involve frontal airbag inflators that can rupture or explode during deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin and potentially causing serious injury to the driver or passengers.
All three recalls center on the same core hazard: Takata-type frontal airbag inflators that build excessive internal pressure when triggered in a crash. Two of the recalls cover the passenger-side inflator, and one covers the driver-side inflator. In each case, the inflator casing can burst rather than deploy normally, turning the airbag module into a source of metal shrapnel directed at the people the system is meant to protect. All three apply exclusively to 2010 model year Ram 3500 vehicles.
