3 recalls across 5 model years
The Ducati 1299 has 3 recalls covering 2014 through 2018 model years, with the most serious being a front brake master cylinder defect on 2015-2018 models where the cylinder can fail and cause a partial or complete loss of front braking, raising the risk of a crash.
The front brake issue has two related aspects across the 2015-2018 range. The master cylinder's internal piston can develop a crack, which can lead to brake fluid loss and reduced or absent front brake response. This affects the STD, S, FE, and SL variants within that year range.
On 2014-2018 SL and FE trims, crankcase pressure can force engine oil into the airbox, where it can then drip from the drain hose onto the road surface directly behind the rear tire. Oil on the tire or pavement beneath it can cause the rear wheel to lose traction without warning.
