The 2019 model year also has a fuel vapor separator that can crack and allow gasoline to leak. In the presence of an ignition source, that leaked fuel can ignite and cause a fire. On 2018 models, the airbag control unit can malfunction and cause the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to either fail to deploy or deploy incorrectly in a crash, reducing occupant protection.
