7 recalls across 6 model years
The Fiat 500E has 7 recalls spanning 2013 through 2025, with the most serious being a propulsion system shutdown on 2013-2016 models where voltage spikes in the power inverter can cut drive power without warning, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2013-2015 models have a related software incompatibility between the vehicle's electric control unit and battery pack module that can also cause a complete propulsion shutdown when the car enters limp-home mode. On 2013-2014 models, coolant can leak from inverter cooling plates into high-voltage circuitry, blow the main service fuse, and leave the car without drive power while moving. The 2013 model year alone has a half-shaft joint that can loosen and separate, producing noise and a sudden loss of drive.
The 2024 model year has two issues worth noting. A front seatbelt buckle sensor can be improperly connected, preventing the front airbag from deploying in a crash. Separately, the horizontal aim adjustment on the headlights may not be properly covered, allowing the beam angle to shift and either reduce the driver's forward visibility or create glare for oncoming traffic. That headlight aim concern extends to 2025 models as well.
