1 recall across 4 model years
The GMC C5500 has 1 recall affecting 2008-2009 model years, where a DC-to-DC converter installed during DUECO utility vehicle modifications contains an epoxy sealing compound that can become electrically conductive, melt, and catch fire.
These vehicles were upfitted by DUECO as utility vehicles. The sealing compound inside the Sure Power DC-to-DC converter, which steps down voltage to power auxiliary equipment, can degrade in a way that allows electrical current to pass through it. Once that happens, the material can generate enough heat to melt and ignite, raising the risk of a fire in the vehicle's electrical system.
