3 recalls across 2 model years
The GMC C60 has 3 recalls covering the 1976 and 1978 model years, with the most serious affecting 1978 models equipped with hydraulic brakes and firefighting equipment, where heat from the right side exhaust manifold can damage the brake hose at the frame fitting and cause a loss of braking at the right front axle.
On 1976 models, steering gear attachment nuts can develop metal flaws that cause them to split, which can compromise the connection between the steering gear and frame. Also on 1976 models with Detroit Diesel Allison 4-cylinder engines, the accelerator cross shaft support bracket may have been installed reversed, creating a bind in the throttle linkage that causes the accelerator to return to idle more slowly than it should.
