The GMC Model 230 Motorhome has 2 recalls across the 1973-1976 production run, the most serious being a furnace gas fitting defect on 1973 models where cracks in the flare nut and compression nut can allow combustible gas to accumulate inside the vehicle, creating a risk of explosion or fire.
The 1976 model year, on units equipped with the Onan 6.0 kW generator option, has a separate electrical issue where the 110-volt AC conduit can contact the positive battery terminal or starter solenoid, and insulation on the conduit and cable can wear through against the negative terminal, causing a short circuit in either case.
