GMC SPRINT Recalls

The GMC Sprint has 2 recalls covering the 1975 and 1977 model years, with the most serious being a 1977 steering intermediate shaft that can separate at its flexible coupling and leave the driver with no ability to steer the vehicle. The 1975 model year has a separate concern on vehicles built with certain Buick or Oldsmobile rear axles, where the side-thrust plates inside the differential were not hardened. Over time, the rollers can wear through those plates, allowing the wheel and axle assembly to separate from the vehicle entirely while driving.
