GMC T SERIES Recalls

The GMC T Series has 4 recalls spanning the 1984-1993 production run, with the most serious being a transmission defect on 1993 models where the automatic gearbox can fail to engage Park, leaving the vehicle free to roll away when the driver believes it is secured. On the brake side, 1984 models have rear brake backing plates that can corrode to the point where the wheel cylinder rotates out of position, reducing or eliminating rear braking and lengthening stopping distances. The 1991 model year has a windshield bonding issue where inadequate adhesive can allow the windshield to separate from the body in a crash. Going back to 1986, certain vehicles carry an incorrect tire and rim information label, a compliance issue with no associated mechanical defect.
