4 recalls across 4 model years
The GMC W3500 has 4 recalls covering the 2006–2009 model years, with the most serious affecting 2008–2009 gasoline-powered vehicles where the accelerator pedal can catch on a steel stopper bolt, stick at full throttle, and make the vehicle difficult to slow or stop.
The 2006–2008 model years share a fuel tank corrosion issue where the tank can develop leaks over time. Fuel leaking near an ignition source raises the risk of fire. On 2006 models, a bolt connecting the engine oil pipe to the vacuum pump may not have been fully tightened during assembly, allowing it to loosen with use and cause oil to seep or leak from the seals around that connection.
