3 recalls across 4 model years
The GMC W4500 has 3 recalls covering 2006-2009 model years, with the most serious being a stuck accelerator pedal on 2008-2009 gasoline-engine models where the throttle pedal can wedge under a steel stopper bolt and remain pinned at full throttle, making the vehicle difficult to slow or stop.
The same accelerator pedal mechanism is also the subject of a separate filing specific to 2008 gasoline-engine models, where lateral movement of the pedal causes the bracket to catch on the floor panel stopper bolt and hold the throttle open. On 2006-2008 models, the fuel tank can corrode through and leak fuel, raising the risk of a fire if that fuel contacts an ignition source.
