The Harley-Davidson FLHRC has 2 recalls covering 2008–2012 model years, the most serious being a brake light switch defect on 2009–2012 models where exhaust heat can cause the switch to fail, leaving the brake lamp dark when braking, triggering it falsely when no brake is applied, or leaking brake fluid that reduces rear braking ability.
On 2008–2010 models equipped with anti-lock brakes, deposits can form inside the ABS hydraulic control unit and cause a valve to stick, reducing overall braking performance and raising the risk of a crash.
