The Harley-Davidson FLHTCUL has 4 recalls spanning 2015 through 2019, with the most serious being a clutch defect on 2015 and 2016 model years where the clutch cannot fully disengage, allowing the motorcycle to move unexpectedly while the engine is running and the bike is in gear.
The 2015 model year also has a saddlebag mounting issue where the bag can separate from the motorcycle while riding and become a road hazard for other vehicles. On 2017–2019 models equipped with a Harley-Davidson Detachable Tour-Pak Luggage Conversion Kit, the installation omits rear red reflectors, reducing how visible the motorcycle is to drivers behind it.
