The Harley-Davidson FLTRXSE has 4 recalls spanning 2018 through 2024, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2024 models where the voltage regulator output wire can chafe against the crankcase, short circuit, and cut both electrical power and drive power while the motorcycle is moving. On 2023 models, the rear brake line can work loose and rub against the exhaust pipe, wearing through and leaking brake fluid in a way that reduces stopping ability. The 2020-2022 model years have a software error that causes the brake lights to illuminate without the rider touching the brake lever, which can confuse following drivers. Going back to the 2018 model year, certain clutch assemblies can fail to disengage, making it impossible for the rider to separate engine power from the drivetrain and raising the risk of losing control.
