4 recalls across 5 model years
The Honda CBR500R has 4 recalls spanning 2013 through 2021, with the most serious affecting 2019–2020 ABS-equipped models where excess grease in the ABS modulator can trap debris in a check valve, causing a brake fluid leak that reduces braking performance.
The 2020–2021 model years have a separate issue where the rear reflector lens may not meet minimum brightness requirements, making the motorcycle less visible to drivers behind it. On 2014 models, the starter relay switch may have had sealant incorrectly applied during assembly, which raises electrical resistance across the main fuse and can cause the engine to fail to start or stall unexpectedly while riding. The 2013 model year has a fuel level sensor where the float arm can separate from the sensor body, causing the fuel gauge to read inaccurately.
