The Honda CBR500R has 3 recalls covering 2013 through 2021 model years, with the most pressing issue for recent owners being a dim rear reflector on 2020-2021 models that may not reflect enough light to make the motorcycle clearly visible to drivers behind it, raising the risk of a rear-end collision. The 2014 model year has a starter relay switch where sealant was incorrectly applied during assembly, which can increase resistance through the main fuse, cut battery voltage to the electrical system, and cause the engine to either fail to start or stall unexpectedly while riding. On 2013 models, the fuel level sensor float arm can separate from its holder, causing the fuel gauge to show inaccurate readings.
