2 recalls across 2 model years
The Honda CBR900RR has 2 recalls covering the 1992 and 1993 model years, both for the same front brake defect where insufficient clearance between the disc pads and caliper can cause the pad backing plate to expand, bind, and keep the pads in constant contact with the rotor, overheating and distorting it and reducing stopping power.
The 1992 and 1993 model years are each covered by their own filing, but the underlying problem is identical: repeated hard braking generates enough heat to cause the pad backing plate to swell inside the caliper, preventing the pads from releasing. The rotor then overheats, warps, and braking performance falls off as a result.
