HONDA CLARITY FUEL CELL Recalls

The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell has 4 recalls covering the 2017-2019 model years, with the most serious being a fuel cell control unit issue on 2017-2018 vehicles where the system misreads a voltage drop and cuts power partially or completely while driving, raising the risk of a crash. This power-loss defect traces back to 2017-only vehicles, and a prior repair attempt on those vehicles did not fully resolve the problem, leading to a follow-up recall that also covers 2018 models. The 2019 model year has a separate concern with the rear seat belt locking mechanism, where the webbing sensor can fail to lock during a crash and leave rear occupants less restrained than intended. On 2017-2018 vehicles, internal corrosion can cause the water pump to fail, which can stall the vehicle unexpectedly.
