All four recalls involve the airbag system. The Takata inflator issue covers the full 2010–2015 production run and is the most dangerous: the passenger airbag inflator can explode rather than deploy normally, turning its housing into a source of metal fragments. A separate but related concern on 2012–2014 models involves an incorrectly installed passenger airbag inflator that may fail to deploy at all in a crash, removing the protection the airbag is meant to provide. On 2015 models built during a narrow production window in fall 2014, the side curtain airbags can fail to fully inflate in a crash, reducing their ability to protect occupants in a side impact.
