HONDA VTX1800 Recalls

The Honda VTX1800 has 3 recalls, all affecting the 2002 model year, with the most serious being a swingarm that was not properly welded during production and can fracture while riding, causing the rear of the motorcycle to collapse and the rider to lose control. The 2002 model also has a transmission circlip that was not correctly seated and can allow gears to lock up, causing sudden rear wheel lockup and a potential crash. There is also a side stand spring bolt washer that can deform and allow the bolt to break, letting the retracted side stand drop while underway and triggering the ignition cut-off, which stalls the engine without warning.
